If you are looking to transfer ownership of your Smartwaiver account, you can do so in a three simple steps.
When switching owners, we are going to focus on changing the email address and the payment method on the account, which will effectively direct ownership to the new individual.
Before we get started, keep in mind that while you can update the account's Business Name, Email address, Password, and Credit Card, unfortunately the account username is hard-coded into the backend and cannot be changed. The account username is only used for login purposes and is not visible to guests signing your waiver in any way.
1. Let’s start by logging into your account and accessing the “My Account” section. Click on the “My Profile” tab located towards the top of the screen.
We are going to start by swapping out the email that is associated with the account. This is the first option on the “My Profile” tab:
Once you are ready, click on the “@ Update Email Address” button to save the new email for the account.
2. Next, we are going to have the new owner choose a new password for the account. The safest way to do this would be to have the new owner access the login screen, and then click “Reset Password”.
Keep in mind that the “Reset Password” page will ask for the account’s username, and not the email. If you are having trouble remembering your username, there is a link on the login screen to find that as well.
Once that is sent, access the new email address that was changed in the first step, and follow the instructions for resetting the password.
Then, the new business owner will sign into the account using the username, and the new password that they have just created.
3. The final step is to switch the active payment method on the account. To do that, we will head back over to the “My Account” section after logging in.
From here, you’ll see the card information for the old card on the right-hand side. Click on “Change Credit Card”, and then follow the prompts to input a new credit card.
Note - Any outstanding balances on the account will be charged when the card is switched – keep this in mind!
And that’s it, you are all set!
