There are several options for signing a form in Smartwaiver. This is usually determined by who the waiver is intended for, which is based on the original waiver that was converted. The four options for waiver signing are:
- Adults or Minor (Default Option)
- Adults Only
- Minor Only
- Both Adults and a Minor.
In addition, you can also have multiple Minors sign a waiver at the same time.
To setup the correct options for signing your waiver, we will head over to the "Minor's" section of the waiver editor.
Adult or Minor:
\
The default option. This will give your signer the opportunity to either sign as an Adult, or a Minor, but not both. To achieve this, you'll want your settings to look like this:
Keep in mind that even if the participant signs as a Minor, they will still need to enter in a Parent/Guardians information to process the waiver. This still only counts as a waiver for the Minor.
Adults Only:
Adults only will appear a little different than the others, as you will not get a dialog box that says "Please select who will be participating". Instead, the waiver will simply continue after the Body and go directly into the "Participants Information" section:
This can help to speed up the process as well as clean the overall look of the waiver if you are in a situation where only Adults will sign your waiver. To enable this, we will simply turn off ALL fields under the "Minors" heading. It should look like this if done correctly:
Since no Minor's will be signing the waiver, the settings you enter for "Age of Majority" and "Minimum Age Requirement" will not have any effect on the waiver.
Minor(s) Only:
If you do not need a space for Adults to sign waivers, you can disable adults completely as well. Just like the previous section, if the setting for Adults is not turned on and you are only accepting waivers for Minor's, the waiver will automatically go into the "Minor's Information" after the body section of the waiver:
You will need to adjust your settings to look like this if this is what you are going for:
However, we can also have multiple Minors on the same waiver as well. This comes especially in handy when a large family is signing a waiver for an activity. To activate the multiple Minors button, we will toggle the section option after the "Minors" heading:
Then, on your waiver, you will have the option to click "Minor(s)", followed by the amount of Minors you want to sign for:
Adults + Minors:
You can also set the waiver up to grab both a signature for the "Adults and a Minor" in a group.
Keep in mind that using the "Adult and a Minor" option will still use two waivers (or more if there are multiple Minors). However, this should speed up the process since they will all be able to sign at the same time. Another benefit is that these waivers will be grouped together in the "View Signed Waivers" page, which can help to identify families or groups.
For this, you'll want these settings under "Minors":
And you will also have to adjust a setting under the "Parent & Guardian" section:
"Minors must be accompanied by a participating adult" will remove the "Minor" button from your selections in your waiver, which will then look like this:
Note - There is no way to only have the "Adult and a Minor" button on your waiver. You will always at least have the "Adult" selection available as well.
You can add the "Allow multiple Minors on the same waiver" to combine all of these elements together if needed:
Will turn your selections into:
