Every signed waiver in Smartwaiver automatically records the IP address of the device used to sign it, along with a UTC timestamp of the exact moment it was signed. This information is stored permanently with the waiver and can be reviewed at any time.
To find a signer's IP address:
Go to your View Signed Waivers page in the Waiver Console. Search for and click on the participant whose waiver you'd like to look up. Open a preview of their signed waiver in a new tab:
Scroll to the bottom of the waiver. The footer area will display the participant's IP address:
Tip: The IP address and timestamp are also included automatically on the single-waiver PDF export, so you'll have this information any time you download or print a signed waiver - you don't need to look it up separately if you're already exporting the document.
A note on accuracy: An IP address can generally be used to identify the approximate region where a device was located at the time of signing (typically down to the city level). However, if a signer is using a VPN, their recorded IP address will reflect the VPN's exit location rather than their actual physical location. (This is a limitation of IP-based location data in general, and is worth keeping in mind if you're using this information as part of a broader review of a signed waiver.)
